(Sundiata Post)– Individuals from all strolls of life gathered on Friday as Rotarian Anne Uche Obi was formally embellished as the fifth President of the Rotary Club of CBD.

her address, quickly after her decors, Rotarian Anne commended her predecessors namely: Charter President, Salome Garba; Martins Odeh, Yelwa Abubakar and Daramola Ganiyu for their contributions at different times of their tenure moving the Club to the excellent height, making the Rotary Club of Abuja CBD a force to reckon with.

Rotarian Anne, who herself was a club member, increased through the ranks. At various times, she was Assistant Secretary, Youth Director, President Nominee Designate, President Nominee, President Elect/Vice President and now President.

The 5th President who revealed interest to deliver, said the function she has been offered is that of service for humanity– a cause she is passionate about.

She therefore guaranteed to be guided by Rotary’s 4 Way Test viz; (1) Is it the truth? (2) It is reasonable to all concerned? (2) Will it construct Goodwill and Better Friendship? (4) Will it be helpful to all worried?

Rotarian Anne guaranteed that with concerted efforts from the District Convener, Ayo Oyedokun and Rotary International President 2021- 2022, Shekhar Mehta, all the Districts goals and Rotary International Presidential citation would be fulfilled.

In her words,” As a Club President with a group of devoted , we are burdened the responsibility of increasing membership”. Including that with the vibrant Convener, PAG Evelyn Onyilo as the subscription Chair, that the membership drive will increase by 50 percent.

On his part, the Chairman of the occasion, who is also the President of Nigerian Union of Reporters, Associate Christopher Isiguzo, all to sign up with hands with the fifth President to achieve all that she has actually detailed to attain in her period. He reminded that Rotary is about giving and. service to humankind. Including that a person’s spirit of providing is what he will be kept in mind for even when the person no more.

Earlier in her address, the visitor speaker, former First Lady of Imo , Nneoma Nkechi Rochas praised Rotarian Anne Uche Obi on her election as the fifth President of the Rotary Club of Abuja CBD and said she believes that she would surpass the target she has set for herself in view of her pedigree.

Speaking bon the theme: “Leadership With Empathy”, Her Excellency who first highlighted on what management is not said management has nothing with age and management is not management as supervisors handle things while leaders lead individuals.

According to her, “leadership is the act of inspiring people to achieve a set objective while empathy is ability to share and envision yourself in another person’s position or to place yourself in other person’s circumstance. It is ability to share the feelings if others.

She said empathy motivates leaders to comprehend performance along with permit leaders to establish relationship with the people they lead.

Mrs Okorocha therefore worried that to have the Nigeria of our dream, leaders come down to listen more to individuals they are leading.
