Charlotte Figi, the woman who spurred a cannabis movement that altered laws across the world, has died from the coronavirus at age 13

Charlotte Figi, the 13- year-old girl with epilepsy who helped spark a medical-cannabis movement, has passed away from issues thought to be coronavirus-related, according to a Tuesday Facebook announcement

Charlotte, her parents, and the Stanley siblings, who own a Colorado Springs medical-marijuana dispensary, worked together to produce a marijuana pressure that contained a high concentration of CBD, a nonpsychoactive compound found in cannabis, and a low concentration of the psychedelic element THC.

Charlotte effectively utilized this strain, called Charlotte’s Web, to treat her seizures, and soon other people with persistent conditions got wind of her story and sought CBD treatments themselves.

A family friend revealed the news of Charlotte’s death on her mother’s Facebook page on Tuesday.

In the week’s prior, Charlotte’s mom said her entire family was feeling ill but that they were not able to get coronavirus tests.

The Stanley brothers called the pressure Charlotte’s Web after Charlotte, and it showed successful in decreasing Charlotte’s seizures. Forty-seven states enable the sale of CBD products, and Charlotte’s Web remains one of the most pre-owned CBD items, according to the Charlotte’s Web site.

Realm of Caring Structure, an organization cofounded by Charlotte’s mom, shared a Facebook homage to Charlotte on April 8.
